Shoebox lid
Different textured materials (e.g. sandpaper, cotton gauze pads, bubble wrap, Styrofoam, corduroy, ceramic tile, corkboard)
Magnet
Film canister
White material
Glue
Tongue depressor/large craft stick

 

What to Do:

Cover the inside of a shoebox lid with several different textures of materials.
Try to make it in the shape of the path.
Cut a piece of white material to fit over a film canister.
Glue a strong magnet to the bottom of the canister.
Drape the material over the canister and place canister on path in shoebox lid.
Glue a strong magnet to the end portion of a tongue depressor/large craft stick.
Use stick with magnet to guide ghost down path by rubbing underneath the lid.
Ask the children if they think some of the textures will be harder than others to guide the ghost down the path.

Invite the children to take turns guiding the "ghost" down the path.
