Beating Hearts

Beating Hearts

Materials Needed:

Music

What to Do:

Invite the children sit quietly at group time, and tell them they are going to be learning something about their hearts.
After a few minutes of sitting still, have each child put their hand on their chest to feel for a heartbeat.
Once all of the children, who want to participate, have found a spot where they can feel their heartbeat, put on some lively music and have the children dance.
After a few minutes, stop the music and have the children find their heartbeats again.
Ask the children questions like: "Is your heart beating fast or slow after dancing?", "What do you think made your heart beat faster?".
Explain to the children that both exercise and rest are good for the heart.
