Metamorphosis

Materials Needed:

Green pipe cleaners or yarn
Construction paper (yellow and green)
Large white paper plates
White cotton balls
Pinto beans
Markers
Glue

Template

What to Do:

Using template, trace/copy and cut out:

- Leaf onto green construction paper.
- Butterfly onto yellow construction paper.

Cut green pipe cleaner so it is approximately 2" long.
Instruct children to glue:

- Leaf to the right side of plate.
- Pipe cleaner to bottom portion of plate.
- Cotton ball to the left side of plate.
- Butterfly to top of plate.
- Pinto beans (eggs) onto leaf.

Instruct children to use markers to:

- Decorate butterfly.
- Draw a line from the leaf to the caterpillar, from the caterpillar to the cocoon, and from the cocoon to the butterfly.
- Label the eggs, caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly.
