Shiny Pennies

Shiny Pennies

Materials Needed:

Vinegar
Water
Salt
Tarnished pennies (enough for each child to have a couple)
2 bowls
Spoon
Paper towels

What To Do:

Pour three parts vinegar and one part salt into one of the bowls and stir.
Pour water into the other bowl.
Have the children guess which one of the bowls contains the solution that will get the pennies shiny the fastest.
After the children have made their guesses, let each child take turns dropping one of their pennies in each bowl, to see if his/her guess was right.
Use the paper towels to dry off the pennies.
