Bluebird in my Window

Materials Needed:

Copy of "Bluebird in my Window" song
Tape or CD of "Bluebird in my Window" (optional)

What To Do:

Teach the children the words to "Bluebird in my Window".
Have the children stand in a circle and hold hands with the child next to him/her. Now ask them to raise their hands up to form a window for the bluebirds to fly through.
Pick a child to be the "bluebird" and have him/her stand in the center of the circle.
Ask the "bluebird" to fly in and out of the circle through the "windows".
Have the children sing the song "Bluebird in my Window".
As the children are singing, have the bluebird fly through the windows doing what the song tells him to do.
After 3 versus have been sung, have the original bluebird join the other children in the circle and then have him/her pick who will be the next "bluebird".
This continues until all the children who wish to participate have had a turn.

"Bluebird in my Window" Song:

Bluebird, bluebird, go through my window
Bluebird, bluebird, go through my window
Bluebird, bluebird, go through my window
Oh Johnny, aren't you tired?

Take a little girl and tap her on the shoulder
Take a little girl and tap her on the shoulder
Take a little girl and tap her on the shoulder
Oh Johnny, aren't you tired?

Blue bird, bluebird, go through my window
Blue bird, bluebird, go through my window
Blue bird, bluebird, go through my window
Oh Johnny, aren't you tired?

Take a little boy and tap him on the shoulder
Take a little boy and tap him on the shoulder
Take a little boy and tap him on the shoulder
Oh Johnny, aren't you tired?
