Water Conservation

Water Conservation

Materials Needed:
Image1 Wide mouthed plastic containers (several)
Image1 Ruler
Image1 Permanent Marker

What to Do:
Image1 Talk to the children about the importance of not wasting our natural resources and ways we can conserve them.
Image1 Using a ruler and a permanent marker make inch markings on the containers. This will be used to measure the collected rain water.
Image1 Have the children place the containers around the playground. (Make sure to place them in areas out of the way so they won't be tripped over or kicked.)
Image1 After it has rained, have the children bring the containers into the classroom to measure and record the amount of rain collected.

*Use the rainwater to water plants in the classroom and throughout the school.
