How Heavy is the Egg?

Materials Needed:

10 plastic eggs (the kind that open in half)
Play sand or salt
Strong tape
Scale

What To Do:

Divide the eggs into pairs (5 sets).
Fill the eggs with the following amounts of sand/salt: 2-empty, 2-1/4 full, 2-1/2 full, 2-3/4 full, 2-full.
Tape the halves of each egg together after the sand has been added. Make sure you use a strong tape that will keep the egg together.
Place all the eggs in a basket.
Ask the children to try and match the egg sets by equal weights.
You may want to use a scale to check their guesses.
