Post Office Seriation

Materials Needed:

Several different sizes of envelopes
Several different sizes of boxes
Letter paper (folded in thirds)
A magazine
A card
Different items to fit into the different size boxes

What to Do:

Place the boxes and the envelopes where the children can reach them.
Place the letter paper (folded in thirds), magazine, and card near the envelopes.
Place the different items that you chose to fit into the different size boxes near the boxes.
Invite the children to try to pick out which items they think are the correct sizes to fit into each of the envelopes and each of the boxes (e.g. the magazine belongs in the large manila envelope).
