Matching Nuts and Bolts

Matching Nuts and Bolts

Materials Needed:

Nuts with matching bolts (many different sizes)
3 containers (1 to hold nuts, 1 to hold bolts, and 1 to hold matched sets)

What to Do:

Separate matching nuts and bolts and place in separate containers.
Place the two containers of nuts and bolts in the math center along with an empty container to place the matched sets into.
Instruct the children to try and find the matching sizes of nuts and bolts.
After they screw the nuts and bolts together have them place the matching set into the empty container.
As each child finishes this activity, invite them to count the matching sets and then unscrew the nuts from the bolts and place them back into their original containers.
