Water Rolling Race

Materials Needed:

Cookie sheet
Wax paper
Food coloring
Eyedroppers

What to Do:

Place cookie sheet in a slightly elevated position (a book or blocks will work well to hold up one end).
Cover cookie sheet with wax paper.
Invite the children to mix their favorite colored water using a few drops of food coloring.
Using an eyedropper, instruct the children to a put a line of drops onto the wax paper, then continue adding drops to the original droplets until the water starts to roll down the cookie sheet.
Encourage the children to predict how many drops it takes for the water to race. Does one color race faster than another?
