Musical Shapes

Materials Needed:

Poster board (brightly colored)
Tape
Music (CD player/CD, tape player/cassette tape)

What to Do:

Cut several shapes from a poster board.
Place the shapes in a circle on the floor (if shapes are placed on a floor without carpeting, you may want to use tape to keep them from moving).
Play a favorite song and instruct children to walk around the circle until the music stops.
When the music stops, ask the children to place a foot on a shape closest to them.
Ask each child to name the shape his or her shoe is touching.
