Apple Sorting

Apple Sorting

Materials Needed:

Construction paper (yellow, red, and green)
Poster board
3 baskets to use for sorting
Index cards
Laminating material
Velcro strips or dots

What to Do:

Use construction paper to cut out 20 apples of each color, 10 small and 10 large.
Use poster board to draw a tree on.
Place Velcro on the backs of the apples and on the front of the tree (spaced out enough so the apples won't overlap each other when placed on the tree).
Write sorting directions on index cards.
Invite children to take turns picking an index card.
Children should try and follow the description on the index cards and "pick" the described kind and amount of apples from the tree, and place them in the corresponding basket.
