I Can Count

I Can Count

Materials Needed:

10 Baby food jars with lids
Black permanent marker
Container of pennies

What to Do:

Using a permanent marker, write a number (1-10) on each jar.
In each of the lids, cut a slot wide enough for a penny to easily fit through (an adult should do this step).
Give each child some pennies.
Have the children take turns placing the appropriate number of pennies in each jar, according to the number that is written on that jar.
Ask the children to count out loud the number of pennies being placed in each jar.
Ask which jar has the least and the most amount of pennies in them.
