Fishing Rod and Fish

 

Materials Needed:
Image1 Dowel/rod
Image1 String
Image1 Magnet (heavy duty one with a hole in the middle… can be purchased at hardware stores)
Image1 Cardstock/construction paper (various colors)
Image1 Paper clips
Image1 Markers/crayons
Image1 Fish template
Image1 Glue

 

What to Do:
Image1 Trace fish template onto cardstock/construction paper and cut out.
Image1 Color/decorate the fish using markers or crayons.
Image1 Glue a wiggly eye on each fish.
Image1 Place paper clips on fish.
Image1 Cut string and tie one end of the string around one end of the dowel rod.  Place tape over it to help keep it in place.
Image1 Thread the other end of the string into the center hole of the magnet and tie a knot around the magnet.
Image1 Demonstrate to the children how to "catch" the fish by trying to aim the magnet on the fishing line at the paper clips on the fish.
