How Many People In Your Family?

Materials Needed:
Sentence strips
Heart template
Family member template

Pet template
Crayons
Scissors
Glue
Embellishments (e.g. wiggly eyes, buttons)
Construction paper (multicultural colors)

What to Do:
Instruct children to:

- Choose, color and decorate the cut-outs for each family member.
- Glue family members to the sentence strip.
- Write names next to each of the family members. (This may require the teachers assistance.)
- Trace and cut out a heart.
- Glue the heart to the sentence strip.
- Count the family members.
- Write their name on the heart followed by "Has____ people in his family." (Teacher may need to assist with this step.)

Hearts can be programmed ahead of time with words.
