Frosty Scenes

Materials Needed:

Dark construction paper
Paintbrush
Crayons
Epsom salt
Very hot or boiling water (KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.)
Bowl
Spoon
Measuring cup

What to Do:

Invite the children to color pictures using crayons on dark construction paper. (Instruct them to press firmly while using the crayons.)
Prepare an Epsom salt solution. Do this by boiling 2 cups of water and then adding 1 cup of Epsom salts to the boiling water, stirring occasionally until the salt has dissolved. (This step should be done by an adult.)
Instruct the children to brush the Epsom salt solution onto their finished pictures.
