Hot Potato Letter Game

Hot Potato Letter Game

Materials Needed:

Light brown construction paper
Black marker
Laminating materials
Music

What to Do:

Cut out 26 potato shapes from the brown construction paper.
Using a marker, write one of the letters of the alphabet on each potato.
After writing a letter on the potatoes, laminate them for durability.
Give each child a "letter potato" and have them stand or sit in a circle.
Start playing the music and tell them to pass their potato to the right or left.
Explain that when the music stops, they are to stop passing the potatoes and tell everyone what letter is on the potato they are holding. As their letter recognition improves, you can ask them to name something that starts with the letter they are holding.
