Digging For Dinosaurs

Digging for Dinosaurs

Materials Needed:
Image1 Small tote/large dishpan
Image1 Lots of inexpensive rice (enough to fill container ¾ full)
Image1 Large dinosaur puzzle(s) (change puzzle often so children don't get bored)

What to Do:
Image1 Fill the container ¾ full with rice.
Image1 Bury the puzzle pieces from one puzzle in the rice.
Image1 Invite the children to "dig for the dinosaur".
Image1 As they find the pieces, ask them to try to guess what kind of dinosaur they've found.
Image1 Talk to the children about how archeologists have discovered what dinosaurs looked like by piecing together their "finds" during their digs.
