Digging for Dinosaurs

Materials Needed:
Small tote/large dishpan
Lots of inexpensive rice (enough to fill container ¾ full)
Large dinosaur puzzle(s) (change puzzle often so children don't get bored)

What to Do:
Fill the container ¾ full with rice.
Bury the puzzle pieces from one puzzle in the rice.
Invite the children to "dig for the dinosaur".
As they find the pieces, ask them to try to guess what kind of dinosaur they've found.
Talk to the children about how archeologists have discovered what dinosaurs looked like by piecing together their "finds" during their digs.
